Attorney Craig Peterson previously served as Chief Appellate Court Attorney with the New York State Supreme Court, Appellate Division, Fourth Department for more than 30 years, retiring in 2016. In that role, he reviewed cases submitted to the Appellate Division and made resolution recommendations to the Court. He also supervised the operations, developed policy, and established procedures for the central research staff of more than 20 appellate court attorneys. He reported directly to the supervising justice for all state courts in western and central New York.
Prior to serving as Chief Appellate Court Attorney, Craig enjoyed substantial trial experience as an Assistant District Attorney in Erie County and in a Buffalo-area civil litigation firm. He earned his Juris Doctor degree from the State University of New York at Buffalo Law School and his bachelor’s degree in industrial and labor relations from Cornell University.
